Jamie Foxx has not forgotten his promise to the parents of Trayvon Martin, nor the promise he made to Americans at the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the March on Washington. He is continuing to stay active to fight against injustice!
This past weekend, Jamie Foxx hosted a Trayvon Martin Foundation fundraiser at his home.
Foxx tapped a number of his celebrity friends to support and welcomed Martin’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sabrina Fulton, and Martin’s brother, Jahvaris.
Garcelle Beauvais, Tyrese, Tim Robbins, Rep. Maxine Waters, Larenz Tate, Tyrin Turner (aka Caine from Menace II Society), Harry Belafonte, Tank, Marques Houston, Tim Robbins, Russell Simmons and more were in attendance. In addition to rousing speeches and memorable words, Simmons reportedly presented Martin’s parents with a six-figure check.
Tyrese was more than moved by the event. He Instagramed the above photo with the caption, “A powerful gathering of ‘influence’ organized by @iamjamiefoxx this brother and friend raised a lot of money on behalf of the Trayvon Martin Foundation. I showed up cause I’m uncomfortable with injustice. Jamie Foxx I’m very proud of you and HOW you’re using your influence.”
